Anyone loving in L.A. at the moment will agree that the weather has been mighty screwy this Summer, with lots of humidity and gloom which is unusual for this time of year. Thankfully there have been some fresh new billboards to brighten the city skyline, like these stylish fashion ads.
Fashion billboards
Sometimes however I don't understand fashion at all, as even though it's absolutely roasting outside in the Summer sun some of the designer fashion houses are already advertising their Fall/Winter 2014 collections. Take for example this Prada Eyewear billboard which even though it features sunglasses, still looks pretty bleak for Summer.Another designer highlighting his eyewear range recently is Tom Ford, who graced the Sunset Strip with this 'spectacular' (get it?) billboard in July.
Meanwhile Gucci advertised its fine jewelry Bamboo Collection this month, which due to some overgrown shrubbery was almost hidden from view (better get some hedge-trimmers out).
But the jewelry ad creative was soon replaced by this new F/W 2014 ad featuring multiple models. But honestly, cheer up ladies, you're probably getting paid a small fortune to appear in this Gucci ad, so you'd think one of you could crack a smile, but I guess the pouts have it.

Meanwhile Burberry continues to target a youthful customer and chose to advertise winter jackets in 80° weather, which I find quite frankly absurd in Southern California this time of year.
Now this is more like it, whilst the designer fashion houses promote their Fall offerings, Banana Republic celebrated Summer with their latest campaign.
Then switched it up for their chic capsule collection from luxury clothing designer Roland Mouret.
In the world of shoes, Sam Edelman had Kate Upton to represent his newest designer footwear, which is a far cry from these provocative Sam Edelman shoe billboards from 2010, featuring naked ladies.
Meanwhile Aldo also refreshed its Give me Aldo footwear ad campaign along the Sunset Strip this month.
And Cole Haan put some money behind their ZeroGrand lightweight footwear offering, which look like a futuristic brogue but feel like a comfortable running shoe.
Meanwhile Bonobos was getting in the spirit of Summer with this tropical ad creative showing off their fun seasonal shirts.
Plus the underwear subscription website service, Me Undies, is also taking advantage of the sunshine to show off its underwear offering with this beach shoreline ad creative.
And finally this billboard for American Apparel made me laugh. "We're not politically correct - But we have good ethics' . Hmmm, I think this is less about their fare wages policy and more a veiled reference to the ousting of their CEO founder amid constant rumours of sexual misconduct with models and employees.
I hope you're enjoyed this round-up, you just know more winter clothing ads are to follow in the height of Summer, so come back for another selection of stylish billboards next month.
Stick around in the days to come for more billboard round-ups from the worlds of film, TV, drinks and lifestyle...
